Ms Neilson’s primary focus is to provide counselling for students and parents of the school community. She is a trained Secondary School teacher and Guidance Counsellor and is a member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors which is bound by a Code of Ethics. The only times when she will break confidentiality is when a student is unsafe or is suicidal. 95% of students self-refer. Other referrals come from Deans, members of staff and parents who have concerns. If you want to contact Ms Neilson regarding your son or daughter please do not hesitate

 

Resource Teacher of Learning & Behaviour (RTLB)

The RTLB is a Ministry of Education Special Education initiative. It acknowledges that all schools have students with special needs. Mr Tonnies is shared between Glendowie and Sacred Heart College. At Glendowie College he works with the Learning Assistance Co-ordinator and the Guidance Counsellor as well as with years 9 and 10 Deans to assist those students who are identified as having learning and behaviour difficulties.
