Art Photography - Course Information

Year 11 NCEA Level 1 Photography
Unit Standards:

9050 (level 2) Develop basic black and white photography skills (6 credits/internal)
9042 Research and respond to the art and art work of Aotearoa New Zealand (internal/ 6 credits)
9043 Use established methods to record and analyse information for making 2D art-work (6 credits/internal)

Year 12 NCEA Level 2 Photography
2.1 Research and documents ideas and methods in photography (6 credits/internal)
2.2 Generate and develop ideas using drawing processes and procedures in Photography (6 credits/internal)
2.3 Produce a body of original work in photography (12 credits/ external)
 

Year 13 NCEA Level 3 Photography
3.1 Research and analyse approaches within established painting practice (4 credits/internal)
3.2 Investigate ideas and methods in photography (6 credits/internal)
3.3 Produce original work within photography to show extensive knowledge of art- making methods and ideas (14 credits/external)

Year 11

9050 Demonstrate black and white photography procedures and processes Internal Assessment, 6 credits
9055 Produce photographic drawings to generate ideas Internal Assessment, 9 credits
9056 Produce related photographic work which develops and extends pictorial ideas. Internal Assessment, 9 credits
Year 12
NCEA Level 2 24 Credits
2.1 Research information, methods and ideas in the context of a drawing study in Photography Internal Assessment, 6 credits
2.2 Generate and develop ideas using drawing processes and procedures in Photography Internal Assessment, 6 credits
2.3 Produce a body of work within Photography to show understanding of art making methods and ideas External Assessment, 12 credits
Year 13
NCEA Level 3 24 Credits
The assessment methods and criteria for each of the above courses as follows:
3.4 Research an art making tradition and discuss its influence on recent (printmaking, painting, design, photography) Internal Assessment, 4 credits
3.5 Generate, analyse and clarify ideas to show understanding of processes, procedures, materials and techniques in a drawing study within a selected for of (printmaking, painting, design, photography) Internal Assessment, 6 credits
3.6 Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of existing procedures and practices in a selected form of (printmaking, painting, design, photography) External Assessment, 14 credits

Art Photography - Events

Year 11
Unit Standards
Field trips to various sites and exhibitions are held to complete research and to supplement classroom learning.

Year 12
NCEA Level 2
Field trips are made to Auckland galleries to view appropriate exhibitions.

Year 13
NCEA Level 3
Regular field trips are made to Auckland galleries to view, discuss and evaluate exhibitions
