3.3 Examine media and processes in art (3 credits/internal)
3.4 Explain a theory and its role in art (4 credits/internal)
3.5 Investigate an art issue (4 credits/internal)
3.6 Examine the context of an art movement (4 credits/external)

Art History - Assessment

NCEA Level 3 24 Credits
3.1 Identify characteristics of style in selected artworks and distinguish between the styles of selected artists, periods, or movements. External Assessment, 5 credits
3.2 Identify iconographical motifs in art and explain the meanings conveyed through those iconographical motifs. External Assessment, 4 credits
3.3 Describe a range of art media and processes and compare the effects of media and processes on artworks. Internal Assessment, 3 credits
3.4 Outline a theory related to art and demonstrate how the theory is applied in artworks. External Assessment, 4 credits
3.5 Gather, process and document information on an art history topic and communicate an informed response. Internal Assessment, 4 credits
3.6 Describe the context of a specific art movement and explain the influence of that context on selected works. External Assessment, 4 credits

Art History - Events / Trips

Field trips to Auckland galleries and the Museum are made when appropriate exhibitions coincide with areas of study.
