| Electronics - Course Information
Year 9:
This one term module is designed for students to attain basic
understanding of the principals of electronics. Topics
covered are atomic structure, ohms law, transistors and
electronic circuitry (series and parallel circuits). Using
the knowledge attained from the classroom teaching and
through undertaking research students will the design and
model a burglar alarm using a basic electronic circuit.
Year 11:
This course is developed based on the new New Zealand
Technology curriculum. It provides students with a sound
base of technological knowledge, processes and practice in
Electronics. It also provides for the study and design of
control, communication and computing devices that rely on
electricity in circuits containing different electronic
components.
This course contains a practical component and involves:
research in identifying a problem
finding stakeholders
writing a brief and specifications
producing own concepts
developing the design
ongoing analysis and development
