| Physics - Assessment
Year 12 Physics (NCEA Level 2)
At the end of each module there will be a module test. During the
year you will be assessed using TWO Achievement Standards for NCEA.
These require full attendance during assessment times. These will relate
to Science Investigations (P2.1) and the Integrated Nature of Physics (P2.7).
There will be school wide exams in June and
September. These will include questions related to each of
the external Achievement Standards.
At the end of the year there will be national exams for the
externally assessed Achievement Standards.
Internal Assessment:
P2.1 (AS90252) Collect and analyse experimental data. - 4 credits
P2.7(AS90258) Demonstrate understanding of the integrated nature of Physics - 3 credits
External Assessment:
P2.3 (AS90254)Demonstrate understanding of Waves - 4 credits
P2.4 (AS90255)Demonstrate an understanding of mechanics - 6 credits
P2.5 (AS90256) Demonstrate understanding of atoms and radioactivity - 2 credits
P2.6 (AS90257) Demonstrate understanding of electricity and electromagnetism - 5 credits
Year 13 Physics (NCEA Level 3)
At the end of each
module there will be a module test. During the year you will
be assessed using one Achievement Standard for NCEA. This
will require full attendance during assessment times. The
standard relates to Science Investigations.
There will be school wide exams in May and September. These will include questions
related to each of the external Achievement Standards.
At the end of the year there will be national exams for the
externally assessed Achievement Standards.
Internal Assessment:
P3.1 (AS90774) Carry out a practical physics investigation with guidance, that leads to a mathematical relationship - 5 credits
External Assessment:
P3.3 (AS90520) Demonstrate understanding of Wave systems. - 4 credits
P3.4 (AS90521) Demonstrate an understanding of translational, rotational and simple harmonic motions. - 6 credits
P3.5 (AS90522) Demonstrate understanding of atoms, photons and nuclei - 3 credits
P3.6 (AS90523) Demonstrate understanding of DC circuits, capacitance, electromagnetic induction and AC circuits. - 5 credits
