| Science - Assessment
Year 9:
At the
end of each unit there is a unit test - these tests will be
used for reporting purposes and for students to know how
well they are doing. They will be marked using NCEA grades.
At the end of the year students sit a two hour exam which
will cover all of the content in the course.
Year 10:
At the
end of each unit there is a unit test - these tests will be

At the end of the year students sit a two hour exam which
will cover all of the content in the course.
Students also
sit the Science 1.2 which is a level 1 research Achievement Standard and will
give them credits for NCEA level 1 if they pass.
Year 11:
At the
end of each module there will be a module test. There
will be school wide exams in May and September. These
will include questions related to each of the external
Achievement Standards.
At the end of the year there will be national exams for the
externally assessed Achievement Standards.

digestive and skeleto-muscular systems - 4 credits

(AS90183) Demonstrate understanding of mechanics in one
dimension - 5 credits

(AS90185) Demonstrate understanding of electricity and
magnetism - 5 credits
Year 12:
The course is based on NCEA Level 2 Science Achievement Standards, S2. t S2.6. The internally assessed Achievement Standards are S2.1 and S2.3. Each topic/unit has a summative test at the end of it. There are also the Mid-Year and End-of-Year exams.
