| Chemistry: Assessment
Year 12:
During the
year there will be a test at the end of each section of the
course; two internal assessment tasks for NCEA Level 2
Chemistry and one for Level 3.
Internal
Assessment:
- C2.2 (A. S.
90306) Carry out an acid-base volumetric analysis (Level 3)
- C2.3 (A. S.
90763) Solve simple quantitative chemical problems (Level 2)
- C3.2 (A. S.
90695) Determine the composition of an oxidant or reductant
by titration (Level 2)
External
Assessment:
- C2.4 (A. S.
90308) Describe the nature of structure and bonding in
different substances (Level 4)
- C2.5 (A. S.
90309) Describe the structural formulae and reactions of
chemical compounds containing selected organic functional
groups (Level 4)
- C2.6 (A. S.
90310) Describe the thermo-chemical and equilibrium
principles (Level 5)
- C2.7 (A. S.
90311) Describe oxidation-reduction reactions (Level 3)
Year 13:
During the year, tests will be held at the end of each topic. There will also be school examinations in the second and third terms.
In November there will be external examinations administered
by NZQA. Students may also undertake an extended practical
investigation at Level 3 of NCEA.
Internal Assessment:
- C3.1 (A. S. 90694) Carry out an extended practical
investigation involving quantitative analysis (Level 4)
External
Assessment:
- C3.3 (A. S. 90696) Describe oxidation-reduction
processes (Level 3)
- C3.4 (A. S. 90780) Describe properties of particles
and thermo-chemical principles (Level 5)
- C3.5 (A. S. 90698) Describe aspects of organic
chemistry (Level 5)
- C3.7 (A. S. 90700) Describe properties of aqueous
systems (Level 5)
