Course Information Assessment Events/Trips

Accounting - Course Information

Year 11
The course content is divided into five sections:

  1. The Conceptual Basis of Accounting
    Students will develop an understanding of the foundations of Accounting, the principles on which it is based and how they are applied in a range of situations.

  2. Processing
    Students will be able to record and process financial transactions.

  3. Accounting systems
    Students will be able to identify and design an accounting system, including documents, accounting records and appropriate control measures.

  4. Accounting reports
    Students will be able to present, report, analyse and interpret financial information to interested parties.

  5. Decision Making
    Students will be able to interpret and evaluate financial and non-financial information to make informed decisions.

     

Year 12
The course content is divided into five sections:
  1. The Conceptual Basis of Accounting
    -Nature and functions of Accounting
    -Accounting concepts
    -Features and financial requirements the operating cycle
  2. Processing
    -Analysis of transactions
    -Accounting processes
  3. Accounting systems
    -Objectives
    -Documents and design
    -Controls
  4. Accounting reports
    -Recording and reporting information
  5. Decision Making
    -Analysis of information
    -Interpretation of information
    -Decision making process
Year 13
The course content is divided into five sections:
  1. The Conceptual Basis of Accounting eg Theory
  2. Processing eg Journal and Ledger entries
  3. Accounting systems eg Job Costing
  4. Accounting reports eg Statements of Financial Performance, Position
  5. Decision Making eg Analysis and Interpretation

Course topics covered in these five sections are:

  • Conceptual Framework
  • Partnerships
  • Companies
  • Cash Flows
  • Job Costing
  • Cost Volume analysis
  • Analysis and Interpretation

 

Accounting - Assessment

There will be one internal assessment worth 5 credits and 19 credits will be assessed externally. During the year there will be tests on each topic and school examinations in the second and third term.

Accounting - Events

A trip to Tip Top Ice Cream Factory to study job flow costing. Speakers involved in accounting on a day to day basis.
